How to donate old car seats

If you have some old car seats that were used by their children, want to get rid of them.Instead of trying to sell in a garage sale, you can donate old car seats to a local charity. Some restrictions are in place when it comes to donating seats due to safety and liability issues. If you have a car seat that can be donated, charitable donation can be claimed on your tax return.

Instructions

  1. Use the database of charities on the website of the vault of charity, if you do not have a charity in mind.Usually, you can donate seats to any organization that supports children, as refuges and nurseries.
  2. Call the charity you have chosen to see how accepting donations. Use the contact vault charitable to call the organization to see if they accept used seats.

Tips & Warnings


Look in the car seat to find the label with the date of manufacture. If more than six years, you can not donate, because seats will expire after this period of time. Also you can not donate, if there is no label on it.

Inspect the condition of the car seat by looking for cracks or missing parts. If you find something is not in good condition, which means you can not donate.
Call online vehicle safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to n / a to see if you have removed the car seat. You can not donate any car seat that has been removed.
